My husband's parents died and were buried in the Peterborough area in the 1980's. The family can't recall the name of the cemetery. How can we find out where they are buried?

Start by searching the available online cemetery websites such as CanadaGenWeb's Cemetery Project, OCFA, OGS and The Canadian Gravemarker Gallery.

If none yield results contact the local branch of the Ontario Genealogy Society.  Each OGS branch has compiled cemetery transcripts for their area.

You could also locate their obituaries to see if a cemetery was mentioned and contact local funeral homes to see which one may have handled the service.

I have managed to have receive a copy of Mimico Correctional Centre Prison Records (RG20-43-1) for an uncle but unfortunately it seem there are no Inmate Case Files for the centre for 1950 onwards. The register tells me that he was sentenced in Peterboro by W R Philp on June 28 1950. He was sentenced to 5 mths and released Nov 27 1950. Can anyone tell me if there would be a record of the trial in Peterboro?

Can anyone tell me how to go about searching for the burial place of my father's aunt who was a Franciscan Sister? She was born in Maine, USA, and died there in the 1930s. In 1930, she was a nurse in the hospital in her hometown of Eagle Lake, ME, located in the northern part of the state. I can find no death records but, before my father passed, he mentioned that he thought she was buried somewhere in Canada. He remembered something about her brother having to take her to her Mother House, in Canada, for burial. Since I have no idea as to the location of the Mother House, how would I go about locating her burial place?

According to Wikipedia the motherhouse in Canada is located in Toronto. Their website is called the Sisters of St Joseph of Toronto, contact them and ask about burials.

The 'Ida' refers to the town that the cemetery can be found in. I would assume from your question that you obtained this information from OCFA -- if so, visit the site as they give contact information for all the cemeteries they list in their database.
From L. Johnson -- Through my own research of family that is buried in any Anglican cemetery,whether it be a churchyard or not I have found the Anglican Archives in Toronto to be extremely helpful...especially if you know the date of death and if the people are buried in the said cemetery.
